Joey Ayala is a contemporary pop music artist in the Philippines. He is well known for his style of music that combines the sounds of Filipino ethnic instruments with modern pop music.

Joey’s “Bagong Lumad” (literally “New Native”) Band also inspired the creation of the Bagong Lumad Artists Foundation, Inc. (www.blafi.org), a UNDP Responsible Party working on SiningBayan (Social Artistry) capacity-building projects with the Civil Service Commission, the Department of Education, and other NGOs in the Philippines.

In the spirit of ideas worth spreading, TEDx is a program of local, self-organized events that bring people together to share a TED-like experience. At a TEDx event, TEDTalks video and live speakers combine to spark deep discussion and connection in a small group. These local, self-organized events are branded TEDx, where x = independently organized TED event. The TED Conference provides general guidance for the TEDx program, but individual TEDx events are self-organized.* (*Subject to certain rules and regulations)

Gulangyu is a popular tourist destination featuring some 8.5 km. of coastline. It is home to some 30,000 people and is known as a “hometown to music,” the “island of piano,” and the “Architecture Exhibition of Ten Thousand Nations” – this last owing to the well-preserved presence of more than a thousand villas. An excellent place to visit and learn from especially for those interested in how governance, business and culture can and should work together to make life on this planet an enriching and uplifting experience.
